United Nations' Call To Stop The Violence Between Israel And Hezbollah

Jun 07, Kathmandu- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an end to hostilities, saying there is a risk of widespread conflict along the border between Lebanon and Israel.

After the eight-month-long war with Hamas that destroyed Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while visiting the northern border region, said on Wednesday that preparations are being made for more intensive operations on the Israeli border.

While Israel is waging a war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, daily attacks between Hezbollah and Israel have increased in recent days. Both groups are supported by Iran and other allies.

The Secretary General has called to stop the firing that has been going on across the 'blue line'. United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said this in a statement, referring to the border line between Israel and Lebanon.

He said that continuous firing could lead to widespread conflict with disastrous consequences for the region.
