Morang's Gramthan Rural Municipality Chairman Passes Away

Jun 17, Kathmandu- 56-year-old Jaya Prakash Gachchdar Tharu, chairman of Gramthan Rural Municipality of Morang has passed away. Hari Prasad Bhattarai, chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, informed that he, who lived in Gramathan-4, passed away around 1 pm on Monday.

He was participating in a program organized by the Nepali Congress at Hotel Eastern Star in Biratnagar to discuss the National Assembly elections, and fell unconscious on the evening of 10th Magh 2080. After suddenly fainting, Paras was rushed to the hospital for treatment. When it was not possible there, he was taken to Nobel Teaching Hospital for further treatment. Tharu, who was being treated at Nobel for a long time in an unconscious state, was taken home on Jestha 1. He passed away at home.

The doctor involved in the treatment said that Tharu had a 'brain haemorrhage'. In the local elections of 2079, he became a candidate from the Congress and was elected as the chairman of the rural municipality. Gunavati Devi Tharu, the vice president of the village, is working as the acting president after the president fell ill. Tharu's last rites will be performed on Tuesday, the family said.
