Incidents of theft and robbery increased in Madhesh: Request to the Home Minister to conduct a special security campaign

Jun 24, Kathmandu- CPN-UML Member of Parliament Samjhana Thapalia has raised the issue of increasing cases of theft and robbery in Madhesh province.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the House of Representatives today, MP Thapalia said that the series of more than a dozen theft and robbery incidents in the last three months has created panic in the society. She did not demand that special security operations be conducted to control such activities. She said that the criminal group in the village is giving information by putting up pamphlets and posters, and the citizens are not able to stay in the village because of fear.

MP Thapalia did not demand the Home Minister to launch a special security campaign immediately. She said that the peace and security situation has deteriorated in the districts of Madhes province including Siraha. Stating that citizens have to stay awake all night with homemade weapons, MP Thapalia said that the government should pay special attention. MP Thapalia said that the local police administration could not control the situation and demanded the government to strengthen the security agencies.
