Jul 01, Kathmandu- A person who is absconding in a drug case was arrested on Monday from Sundarharaicha in Morang with the drug brown heroin (brown sugar).

44-year-old Amrit Bahadur Bhujel from Sundarharaincha Municipality-4 was arrested by the joint team of the Provincial Investigation Team (PIT) of Police Station Gachia and Koshi Province Police Office Biratnagar at around 11 am. Bhujel's house is in Laliguras municipality-9 of Tehrathum and Dharan sub-metropolitan city-15 of Sunsari. Although he lives in Tehrathum and Dharan, he is absconding in a drug case, but he is staying in the house of Yog Kumari Shrestha in Sundarharaincha-4 by renting a room, according to the police.

DSP Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson of Morang Police, said that Bhujel was arrested from the house where the camp was located. The police raided Bhujel's room based on a tip-off that he was hiding brown heroin in the room. DSP Basnet said that when the police searched the room, 32 grams and 740 milligrams of brown heroin were recovered from the room.

According to him, Rs 60,000 in cash and 2 mobile phones were also recovered from Bhujel's possession. Basnet informed that the scooter number 1-02-051 P 5366 used by him has also been seized. Police obtained an arrest warrant against Bhujel from the District Court Sunsari on 26th Magh 2080 for the investigation of the drug case.

He escaped after knowing that the police were preparing to arrest him. It has been revealed that he has been living in hiding after finding a camp at another place. It has been confirmed that the drug trade is also running from the place where the camp is staying.

According to the police, Bhujel is a notorious drug dealer. According to the police officer, he was involved in the business of bringing brown heroin from India and supplying it to various places. By extending the deadline to prosecute the case against Bhujel under the Narcotics Act, the police has proceeded with the rest of the investigation process.
