Elections For Prime Minister In Britain

Jul 04, Kathmandu- For the first time since 1945, elections are being held in July in Britain. Millions of voters will drop their votes in the general election today, July 4.

Voting centers have been set up in local schools, community halls and other buildings. The polling will be held from 7 am to 10 pm.

All the polls about the election in the UK showed that Keir Starmer, the candidate of the Labor Party, would win. Although it is said that Rishi Sunak, the current Prime Minister and candidate of the Conservative Party, campaigned very strongly in the election, it is seen that there is not much benefit from it.

46 million voters will vote to elect 650 members of the House of Commons. The election results of each seat will be announced on Thursday night or at the latest by Friday morning. Any party must get 326 seats to form a government in Britain.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had announced the elections in May. Constituency boundaries have changed following the recent delimitation in the UK.

Now in Britain, the constituencies have increased by 10 to 543 seats. This is the first election after the demarcation. The number of seats in Wales fell by eight to 32.

The number of seats in Scotland has also dropped from 59 to 57 seats. In Northern Ireland, there are 18 seats.
