Unanimous leadership is elected in unified socialist: Madhav Nepal

Jul 04, Kathmandu- Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the leadership will be elected unanimously. He gave this response after discussing with the top-level leaders of the party at a hotel in Kathmandu on Thursday.

In a conversation with News Agency Nepal, President Nepal claimed that after the discussion that took place when General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal was claiming for the presidency at the party's convention, it was concluded that the leadership would be decided by consensus.

The discussion is going on. Unanimous leadership is selected. The first convention is taking place, not a repeat. President Nepal said that since the convention is the first of the party, the president will not repeat it, but a new leadership will be selected.

Today is the last day of the 10th Congress which started on Asadha 16th. Elections for new leadership are being held today. However, despite the insistence of the leaders that the leadership will be chosen by consensus, the representatives have been saying that elections should be held except for the post of chairman and general secretary. Discussions are being held between the leaders to reach a consensus on the leadership since Wednesday evening.

Bhusal, who claimed to be the president, has been proposed by Nepal to remain as the general secretary, but it is understood that he is looking for a position with authority. Finally, the leaders said that the efforts to persuade Bhusal to become the senior vice president if not the general secretary are continuing.

Earlier, leader Rajendra Pandey had claimed the position of senior vice president. It is understood that discussions are being held on the option of keeping Pandey as the vice president or senior leader after agreeing on Bhusal as the senior vice president.
