Jul 11, Kathmandu- Air Chief Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal, paid a courtesy call on Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Balendra Shah.
In the meeting held on Wednesday, the mayor's secretariat has informed that there was a discussion about the possibility of fraternal relations between Kathmandu and Colombo to formalize mutual relations.
Mayor Shah said that Sri Lanka can be directly connected to Lumbini by operating an international flight from Colombo to Bhairahawa Airport. "A friendly cricket match can be organized between the two countries," he told the Sri Lankan ambassador, "knowledge and skills can be exchanged between people in the fields of art, sports and music." Cooperation is possible in the fields of human resource development and infrastructure development.

In the meeting, Mayor Balen and Ambassador Pathirana discussed the history of Buddhist Lumbini, Sri Lanka's relationship with Lumbini and Kathmandu, Buddhist pilgrimage routes, and mutual learning in health and education. In the meeting, tokens of love were exchanged to symbolize mutual harmony. During this, Chief Shah presented the statue of Buddha and Ambassador Pathirana presented Sri Lanka's famous tea.
