Trishuli Bus Accident: Sonar Device Being Used To Search For The Missing Buses And Passengers

Jul 15, Kathmandu- A high-tech sonar device has been used to search for two missing buses and passengers in the Trishuli River.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Co-Spokesperson of Armed Police Shailendra Thapa informed that a device that can see to a depth of 200 meters has been used since this morning to search for buses and passengers that fell due to a landslide in Simaltal under the Muglin-Narayangadh road section.

Sonar technology, which is considered to be the highest level in Nepal, is a technology that sends underwater sound waves and scans the objects there to show them as shapes. With this technology, which is considered to be effective even in murky water, the sound wave thrown into the water reaches the objects below and is scanned and returned in the form of a shape. By connecting to a motor boat, the shapes of all objects underwater can be viewed on a computer over a long distance. The Armed Police Force Nepal Headquarters also believes that success will be achieved with this technology.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two more people who were missing along with the bus have been found. District Police Office Chitwan said that 62 people were missing in two buses and seven bodies including the last two were found. It has been confirmed that the dead bodies found last are those of 23-year-old Sudeep BK of Bharatpur-22 Patihani in Chitwan and 17-year-old Firoz Rahupat of Rautahat. Five bodies were found till yesterday. Similarly, the bodies of four others were also found today. According to the police, it is yet to be confirmed whether the bodies are those of those missing with the bus or not.
