Jul 19, Kathmandu- Deputy Speaker Indira Rana has been dragged into controversy after her letter to the American Embassy was published.
She was dragged into controversy after the letter was published asking the embassy to provide time for visa interviews for 6 people including himself. The letter addressed to the Consul General of the Embassy one and a half years ago has the Deputy Speaker's letterhead, seal and signature.
The letter recommended by Deputy Speaker Rana on the letterhead of her office to get visas for some youth including herself has now been made public.
If specific persons have to go abroad, all procedures including visas are carried out by the government mechanism. In the case of the Deputy Speaker, all work is done through the Parliament Secretariat through the Foreign Office. However, Deputy Speaker Rana directly wrote the letter herself. With the publication of the letter, she is being heavily criticized.
