Jul 27, Kathmandu- B.P Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Bharatpur has upgraded the traditional Chinese treatment system with modern physiotherapy. Services have been expanded by adding state-of-the-art equipment to the hospital.
According to a traditional Chinese medicine specialist, the service has been expanded by adding equipment worth more than 7 million. Likewise, the treatment room has been upgraded by spending Rs. 2 million 500 thousand. He said that along with physiotherapy, acupuncture, cupping, scrub massage therapy, bone setting, fumigation and other traditional Chinese treatments will be available.
The specialist said, "In the past, we have been providing services with few equipment, now we have expanded the service by adding new state-of-the-art equipment." These equipment and upgrades were done with the financial support of the Chinese government.
Another traditional Chinese medicine expert informed that more than 30 modern equipment including medium-frequency therapy devices, low-frequency therapy devices, limb linkage medical devices, tread mills, motorized movement therapy devices, standing frame, balancing bar etc. have been brought.
He said that the treatment of nerves, long-term pain management, and bone problems can be done through a combination of traditional Chinese methods and modern equipment. He said, "We treat chronic pain, neurological disorders and trauma injuries by using modern equipment including traditional methods".
Currently, about ten percent of cancer patients and about 90 percent of non-cancer patients come for treatment. He expects that this number will increase as he has been serving around six hundred patients here every month.
Executive director of the hospital. Shivji Paudel said that physiotherapy service is not only for cancer patients but everyone can take it. Stating that such a facility is not available elsewhere in Nepal, he said that the service can be availed at a low fee.
