Football Tournament In Bhanu To Attract Tourists

Jul 27, Kathmandu- The 17th Bhanu Cup football tournament is going to be held with the main objective of attracting tourists through football. It will be held from 19th to 26th of Shrawan in the joint project of Customs Youth Club, Salbishne Youth Club and Bhimsen Youth Club located in Bhanu Municipality-1.

The main coordinator Bishnu Bahadur Adhikari informed in the press conference held on Saturday that the competition is going to be conducted at the regional stadium in Bhanu Municipality-1. The official said that the competition was organized to introduce Bhanunagar at the international level and attract the young generation to sports.

In the competition, the winner will receive a cash prize of 250,211 and the runner-up will receive a prize of 125,211. He informed that 24 teams have registered to participate in the competition. Speaking at the press conference, Anandraj Tripathi, the city chief of Bhanu municipality, expressed his belief that such competitions will be supported to advance the sports and tourism sectors together.

Tripathi informed that the municipality has been providing financial support for the competition every year to support the development of the tourism and sports sector. Also, to encourage the players, he said that the construction of a state-level stadium in Bhanu is going on. Coordinator of the financial committee Som Tamang informed that 1 million 383 thousand 213 will be spent on the competition.

Prizes will also be given to the best player, best goalkeeper, most goalscorer and disciplined group in the competition. Arjun Kumar Shrestha, president of Customs Youth Club, said that the club also organized Chhelo and Baghchal competitions on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti. According to Shrestha, the winner of Chhelo and Baghchal will receive 6 thousand 211 rupees each. It was informed at the press conference that the competition was held due to the lack of publicity, even though it is the birthplace of National Bibhuti Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya.
