Jul 30, Kathmandu- Recently, with the increase in cancer patients, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital has started treatment by installing a second radiotherapy machine. Before this, only one machine in the hospital was doing radiotherapy for cancer patients for a long time.
The hospital's administration and medical team led by Dr. Ujjwal Chalise, the executive director of the hospital, installed and installed the donated therapy machine, which has been lying around for two years.
Although the radiotherapy machine was provided by the Government of India two years ago as a subsidy, the administration of Bhaktapur Hospital at that time could not use it due to lack of resources. But with Chief Chalise becoming the acting director of the hospital, the second therapy machine came into operation.
Dr. Chalise said that the hospital has provided free therapy to around a dozen cancer patients using the machine, which has been put into operation since Shrawan 7. He said that the new machine is providing free service to the needy and the poor.
Around 2 to 400 cancer patients come to this hospital every day. Due to lack of physical structure and lack of beds, it is becoming difficult to provide services to patients. Even though it is a 100-bed hospital, more than 200 patients come daily.
He said that due to the lack of beds, some patients have to wait for their turn, so they are discussing with the hospital management committee about the construction of physical structures and additional beds. Patients come from all over the country for cancer treatment, resources are limited. He said that if the problems seen in the hospital can be solved, the treatment system here can be made even better.
Chalise said that even though the Kathmandu Valley is concentrated, patients who have come here to India come back to the hospital because of the accessible and reliable cancer treatment. This Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital is treating and preventing cancer patients with new technology and in a reliable way.
Director, Dr. Chalise says that despite its old physical structure and lack of resources, it is providing excellent service.
All types of cancer patients are being treated at the hospital. Here cancer surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, palliative care, day care and child cancer services are being provided by skilled doctors and health workers.
