Aug 04, Kathmandu- KP Sharma Oli, the prime minister and chairman of the CPN (UML), has declared that the country's advancement and prosperity depend on constitutional amendments.
He emphasized that it is anticipated that the current political alignment between the two major political parties, the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress, will make it easier to amend the Constitution in order to achieve these objectives.
Speaking at a party program in Chyasal today, Oli refuted claims that major parties are seeking to amend the Constitution for regressive purposes.
“The Constitution is an amendable document as per the needs of the country and its people,” he asserted.
During the program held at the party’s central office, newly nominated party vice-chair and central members were sworn in.
Oli highlighted that the realization to amend the country’s main law stems from the need to strengthen democracy, enhance its gravity and acceptability, explore additional avenues for development and prosperity, and connect with citizens.
“The Constitution is not unamendable,” he reiterated.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of practicing politics for clean competition and serving citizens.
