TRC Bill To Be Tabled In The HoR On Tuesday

Aug 09, Kathmandu- The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) bill will be submitted to the House of Representatives next Tuesday.

The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives has requested Speaker Devraj Ghimire for the arrangements to be submitted in the next meeting.

Bimala Subedi, Chairperson of the Law Committee, made this request after meeting Speaker Ghimire on Friday.

Members of the Law Committee and officials of the Parliament Secretariat were also present in the meeting held at the Speaker's office at Singha Durbar.

After Subedi, the chairman of the committee submitted the letter for the arrangements for submitting the bill in the next meeting, Speaker Ghimire thanked him for the important work.

At that time Speaker Ghimire said, "The committee has unanimously decided on the subject which has been under consideration in the Parliament for a long time. You have done important work, thank you for this".

On Falgun 25, 2069, the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda registered a bill to amend the "Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2071" in the House of Representatives.

This bill was unanimously passed by the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives last Thursday.
