Sep 03, Kathmandu- Australian police on Tuesday charged a 16-year-old youth as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism investigation in the eastern city of Brisbane.

A joint anti-terrorist team has accused the man of planning and preparing terrorist acts, according to the police.

A 16-year-old boy planned to attack a school in the north of the city, according to local media.

The Brisbane Times reports that security services have kept the young man under surveillance for some time.

The Australian Federal Police declined to comment further on the matter and said it believed there was no current threat to public safety.
