No New Currency Notes Being Issued For Dashain This Year

Sep 03, Kathmandu- Nepal Rastra Bank has decided not to issue new currency notes for Dashain this year. The bank has come to this decision because it spends 1.5 billion rupees on new notes that become old within a couple of months.

Even if new notes are not printed, the Central Bank has said that it will issue untorn notes to the general public. Due to the problem of managing expenses while issuing new notes, Rastra Bank had planned to continue the practice of issuing dry notes instead of new notes a few years ago, but it failed.

However, Nepal Rastra Bank co-spokesperson Dr. Dilliram Pokharel said that the plan will be implemented from this year. He said that this time around 18,500 notes per person will be issued.
