Bara bus accident update: One killed, 42 injured

Sep 16, Kathmandu- One person was killed and 42 others were injured when the front strap of a bus broke in Bara's Unasi bridge under the East-West highway this morning.

According to the police, Chetan Rai Yadav of Gadwa rural municipality-5 of Dang was the deceased.

Out of the injured, 8 people are in critical condition. All the occupants of the bus were injured when the bus No. Na 8 Kha 1164 opened from Kakdvitta to Dang at 1 o'clock last night went out of control and fell 8 meters below the bridge. 34 people are being treated at Nijgadh Community Maternity Home Hospital and 9 people are being treated at City Hospital.

Inspector Sumit Kushwaha of Nijgarh has said that the condition of 8 patients including 6 patients in the maternity home and 2 patients in the CT Hospital is critical. According to the District Police Office, Bara, the preliminary assumption of the police is that the front panel of the bus was broken and further investigation is underway.
