Sep 20, Kathmandu- The number of students has increased after the start of teaching in English medium at Mahendra Secondary Community School located in Barahakshetra Municipality-6 Chakraghatti.
Chandiraj Pokhrel, the principal of the school, said that the number of students increased after the school started teaching in English medium with the demand of the parents. He informed that since last year, for the first time in the municipality, education has been started in the medium of English from the basic level of infant to class 12.
He said, "With the help and advice of parents, English medium teaching has been started in the school. With the introduction of English teaching, the number of students in the school has increased.” He said that due to the increase in the number of students, the old building has been repaired for classroom management.
He has requested the stakeholders for the necessary support as there is a problem in studies due to leakage when it rains. According to the headmaster Pokhrel, there are currently 850 students studying in the school. The school reported that the number of students has increased by more than two hundred in one year.
Headmaster Pokhrel said that after the increase in the number of students, eight teachers were added and 30 teachers were being taught. English medium from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Nepali medium from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm are divided into two parts in the school.
Teacher Prabin Khadka said that with the start of education in English medium, teachers working at Mahendra High School also enrolled their children in the same school. He said, "Education was started in English medium by adding eight teachers separately after parents requested to start education in English medium".
Due to the lack of income of the school, the school has charged a minimum monthly fee per student for the teachers who teach in English medium, with the consent of the parents. Established in the year 2013, Mahendra Secondary School has been operating since 2057 up to class 12.
