Oct 01, Kathmandu- The State Administration Committee of the Parliament has directed the government to reopen the highways that have been obstructed as of Tuesday.
Following the situation after the rainfall that occurred since Thursday night, several highways in the country have been blocked. While some roads have been cleared, others, such as the damaged BP highway, are not expected to operate shortly.
The State Administration Committee has directed the government to ensure that stranded passengers are transported to their intended destinations immediately. Similarly, the committee has mandated that the government halt any further price increases. Furthermore, the committee has called upon the government to oversee the market and take measures to prevent any increase in prices.
"The committee directs the government to refrain from raising airfares, to repair the roads for the smooth operation of road transport, to provide air transport in districts lacking accessible roadways, to monitor the market to prevent future increases in the prices of food, vegetables, fruits, and similar items, and to provide relief to the victims as soon as possible."
The meeting has similarly urged the government to employ all available measures to advance the relief and rehabilitation efforts with the necessary diligence.
