Indian Industrialist Ratan Tata Passed Away

Oct 10, Kathmandu- Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons, passed away on Wednesday evening. 86-year-old Tata died during treatment at Kandy Hospital in Mumbai.

He had high blood pressure. Born on December 28, 1937 in Mumbai, Tata Ratan was the Chairman of Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust. He was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the 'holding company' of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012.

In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award.

President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Chief Ministers of various states have paid tributes to him.

President Murmu praised Tata's contribution to philanthropy and philanthropy as 'priceless'. President Murmu said, "In the tragic death of Ratan Tata, India has lost an icon. He connected corporate development with nation building and excellence with ethics."

Likewise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Tata and remembered Ratan Tata as a visionary business leader, a kind soul and an extraordinary human being.

He said, “He provided stable leadership to India's oldest and most prestigious business house. His contribution went far beyond the 'boardroom'. He was admired by many for his humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to bettering our society".
