Oct 24, Kathmandu- Sunsari police have arrested 8 people who arranged child marriages with Chinese citizens and made it public.
According to District Police Office Sunsari, the police have arrested 8 people, including the father who married a 16-year-old girl from Dhankuta Chhathar Jorpati village to 33-year-old Li Teng from China.
According to Sunsari Police Spokesperson Sub-Inspector Ram Prasad Timilsena, they were arrested from Auliya Baba's temple in Chatra, Sunsari while they were being forcibly married to Chinese citizens.
According to the Sunsari police, the police have arrested three Chinese citizens and six Nepalese who were involved in the incident and have proceeded with the investigation.
According to the police, those arrested include the girl's father, Li Teng, a bachelor, 43-year-old Deepak Darji of Belka municipality in Udaipur, 42-year-old Badri Bikram Rai, 20-year-old Sital Gurung of Putalibazar municipality in Khulna, 20-year-old Roshnima Tamang of Roshi village in Kavrepalanchowk, and 35-year-old Dong Shihao and Wu Hejie of China.
