Nov 10, Kathmandu- Qatar, which has been initiating a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, has withdrawn from the role of mediator. Now Qatar says that it will not mediate until Israel and Hamas express their desire for talks.
Qatar's latest decision was made public after the United States said it would not accept the presence of Hamas leaders in Qatar.
Qatar has been acting as a mediator to end the war between Israel and Hamas. However, now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has separated itself from the role of mediation.
The ministry issued a statement saying, "As a last ditch effort to reach an agreement, Qatar notified all parties 10 days ago that if the negotiations are inconclusive, we will withdraw from the mediation role."
The United States has said that the presence of Hamas in Qatar is unacceptable, saying that Hamas has not accepted the proposal to end the war.
Hamas has been politically operating in Doha, the capital of Qatar, since 2012.
