Preparations To Introduce The Health Service Act

Nov 22, Kathmandu- The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to introduce a Health Services Act with the aim of addressing the problems of health service employees who have been integrated at all three levels.

The Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday has given in-principle approval to move forward with the Health Services Act in line with federalism.

Stating that the Nepal Health Service Act 2053 BS is still in existence, Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel had submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers meeting with the aim of moving forward the process to enact the act, stating that it has not been able to manage employees by federalism.

The lack of a new act in line with federalism has led to problems in the career development of adjusted employees.

The ministry will propose a new act to establish interconnection between employees at all three levels and make necessary arrangements regarding positions in the health service.

The ministry will now prepare a draft of the act and take it back to the Council of Ministers for approval before taking it to Parliament.

If the Act is implemented, a total of more than 58,000 health workers, including 28,000 employees in the federal health service and those undergoing adjustment at various levels, will benefit.
