Nov 29, Kathmandu- CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that there are problems in the overall education system.

Speaking at the third international educational conference organized by the umbrella organization of private and residential schools, PABSON, on Friday, Dahal said that problems exist not only in the education provided by private schools but also in the entire public education system. He said that the delay in the formulation of the federal education act has brought problems to the state and local governments.

He said that the local level does not have the necessary knowledge, resources and capacity to manage education. Prachanda said, "Enough investment has not been made in education. Only a small portion of Nepal's total budget is spent on the education sector.

There is still a lack of development of physical infrastructure, provision of resources and quality teaching materials in schools in rural areas.

Students are forced to walk long distances in remote schools, and there are problems in operating schools regularly due to landslides, floods and snowfall. A sufficient number of skilled teachers have not been arranged in schools, resulting in a relatively poor educational standard."
