Jan 09, Kathmandu- Recently, a 2-foot-long and 7.3 kg baby was born in Brazil. Due to his large size, the baby had to be surgically removed in the hospital.
This type of infant is called 'Macrosomia' in medical science. Doctors say that there are many reasons behind their increase in size, which causes many side effects in the mother.
In this regard, Dr Adam Taylor, Professor and Director of the Clinical Anatomy Learning Centre at Lancaster University, said that the average weight of a male baby without macrosomia is 3.3 kg and a female baby weighs 3.2 kg. All babies weighing more than 4 kg are said to have macrosomia. 12 percent of babies born in the world have macrosomia. It is more likely to happen to a boy child.
The highest birth weight of a daughter was 6.8 kg. She was born in 2016, but the baby born in Brazil now weighs more than her. At the same time, the smallest baby was born in Italy in 1955, weighing 10.2 kg. It is said that this child was born on January 18.
