Jan 11, Kathmandu- With the development of information technology, cybercrime incidents have been increasing in Karnali Province. The Karnali Province Police Office has stated that 610 cybercrime incidents have occurred in Karnali Province in the last three years.
DSP Narayan Dangi, Information Officer at the Karnali Provincial Police Office, said that the complaints received related to cybercrime incidents have been categorized into four categories. According to Dangi, complaints have been received in areas such as character assassination by posting obscene words, hacking Facebook IDs, online banking fraud, and use of fake IDs.
As the access to technology is expanding in Karnali, cybercrime incidents are increasing, so government, non-government, social organizations, and others should conduct digital literacy classes related to cyber security, said Ramkishore Rawal, Secretary of the Federation of Computer Associations Nepal, Karnali Province. He said that if citizens can be informed about the safe use of technology and issues related to the Electronic Transactions Act, cybercrime incidents will decrease.
