Jan 20, Kathmandu- A woman died in a road accident at Haapen Chowk, Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-4, on the Mechi Highway today. Three others were injured in the accident. 

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Amrita Tamang of Buddhashanti-4, who was riding in an autorickshaw, informed Ganesh Poudel, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Birtamod. The accident occurred when an autorickshaw (numbered Pra 1-01-001 Ja 363) and a jeep (numbered Pra 1-01-001 Ja 3851) heading towards Ilam from Charali collided head-on.

Jeep driver Dil Kumar Thami, 40, of Mechinagar Municipality-12, and autorickshaw passengers Kritika Tamang, 21, of Buddhashanti-4, and Manju Tamang, 41, of Budhashanti-4, were injured in the accident. They are undergoing treatment at City Hospital on. Police have taken the autorickshaw driver, 53, into custody and are investigating.
