112 Teenage Girls In Manang Vaccinated Against HPV

Jan 28, Kathmandu- Preparations are being intensified to give vaccination against cervical cancer to girls in the age group of 10 to 14 years across the country.

Public Health Inspector Rajendra Shrestha of the Health Office informed that 106 girls studying in grades 1 to 10 in the Himalayan district of Manang will be vaccinated against HPV. According to him, six girls aged 10 to 14 who are not attending school will be vaccinated against HPV.

He said, "Teenagers in the district will be given HPV vaccination against cervical cancer. We are preparing for this with various training and orientation for the vaccinators." Shrestha said that training and orientation will be held for health workers and vaccinators in Manang from Magh 18.

He said that an HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer is being conducted for girls studying in grades 6 to 10 (school-going) and girls aged 10 to 14 (not going to school). The health office has stated that the girls will be vaccinated against HPV through four vaccination centers.

The vaccination center has been designated at Prakash Jyoti Secondary School in Naso Rural Municipality-5, Gauri Shankar Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-1, Lokpakri Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-4, and Annapurna Secondary School in Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-6, the office has stated.

Girls who do not go to school will be vaccinated through the health office or designated vaccination centers.
