Feb 04, Kathmandu- Today is February 4th which is 'World Cancer Day'. On the occasion of this day, the Ministry of Health and Population is providing free HPV vaccination against cervical cancer across the country from today. This school-focused vaccination campaign is going to be conducted simultaneously across the country from Magh 22 to Falgun 6.
In order to protect against the risk of cervical cancer, which is the first cancer among women in Nepal, the APV vaccination campaign is going to be conducted across the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, about 1.7 million adolescent girls across the country are being vaccinated.
The government has set a target of vaccinating 1,688,768 adolescent girls in this campaign. The vaccination is being given to girls in grades 6 to 10 who are studying in school and girls aged 10 to 14 who are out of school.
Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki said that the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine against cervical cancer is being administered to girls of a specified age group across the country, urging everyone to join the campaign in their own way.
