Mar 13, Kathmandu- Former Australian Test cricketer Stuart McGill was found guilty on Thursday of being involved in the supply of cocaine, local media reported.
The retired leg-spinner introduced his personal cocaine dealer to an associate in 2021, police said. The two then struck a drug deal worth $200,000, police said.
Although McGill was not involved in the subsequent transaction, the jury found McGill, 54, guilty of knowingly participating in the supply of a prohibited drug, national broadcaster ABC reported.
The jury also found him not guilty of the more serious charge of being involved in the supply of drugs at a commercial level. McGill played 44 Tests for Australia between 1998 and 2008.
His career paralleled that of Shane Warne, who is widely considered the greatest spin bowler of all time.
