Apr 01, Kathmandu- Doctors had taken the stand that the body of journalist Suresh Rajak, who lost his life in the Tinkune incident, should be X-rayed before conducting a post-mortem.

The post-mortem has been stopped after doctors from the forensic department of TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, insisted on performing an X-ray first.

The District Police Complex, Kathmandu, had sent a letter on Tuesday requesting a postmortem of the body of journalist Rajak, who died after being burnt inside a house set on fire by protesters in Tinkune.

However, the team of doctors has taken the stand that an X-ray should be done first, saying that there may be a dispute tomorrow due to rumors that Rajak may have died of a gunshot wound.

‘The forensic department does not have an X-ray,’ said a doctor associated with the department, ‘We need to bring a portable X-ray from another place. We have told the director. Perhaps it will be arranged.’

Earlier, the police denied the rumors that there was a bullet.

In a statement on Monday, the police had called the rumors 'unfounded propaganda'. Although the police said that the shooting was just a rumor, the doctors said that it should be confirmed through an X-ray.

Rajak's body is at the TU Teaching Hospital.

According to the doctor, only an X-ray can tell whether he was shot or not. As soon as an X-ray machine is arranged in the forensic department, the post-mortem process will be carried out by performing an X-ray.

Police have initially said that 70 percent of the body of 33-year-old Rajak was burned. His body was found in a condition where it was unrecognizable above the waist.
