Hearing In Contempt Case Against Gagan Thapa Concludes

Apr 29, Kathmandu- The hearing in the contempt case against Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has concluded.

The hearing was concluded on Tuesday in a joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Nityananda Pandey. The case was listed as the first case of the bench. Anantaraj Luintel had filed a contempt case against Thapa last Sunday. Thapa had made the statement that the Supreme Court was ‘dealing, saying ‘handiun handiun’ (dealing) at a dialogue program organized on the occasion of Democracy Day last Thursday.

A petition was filed demanding action, saying that his statement was offensive to the dignity and faith of an independent judiciary.
