May 06, Kathmandu- A child has died after being struck by lightning in Katari, Udayapur.

Ward Chairman Nabin Tamang informed that 13-year-old Chitra Bahadur Balampaki Magar of Fulbari-8 in Katari Municipality died after being struck by lightning.

Relatives had started searching for Chitra, who had gone to graze goats on Monday afternoon, when he did not return home even by evening.

Ward Chairman Tamang said that he was found collapsed in the forest on Monday evening while searching.

“When the goats came in the evening but the son did not return, the father went to look for Man Bahadur,” said Ward Chairman Tamang. “While searching, he was found collapsed in the forest after being struck by lightning.”

The child was reported to have died on the spot.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamal Bajgain, Chief of the Area Police Office, Katari, said that further investigation will be conducted into the incident.
