Jun 10, Kathmandu - Car sales in China increased significantly in May. The improvement in sales has been seen after the government's plan to encourage new vehicles became effective. More than 19 lakh 30 thousand vehicles were sold in the previous month, which is 13 percent more than in May of the previous year.
The government has been offering special discounts to help people trade in their old cars. The program has been expanded this year, providing more convenience to consumers, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua. More than 4.1 million new vehicles have been sold through the program in the first five months of this year alone.
Similarly, both the production and sales of electric vehicles have seen a significant increase. In the month of May, while about 1170 thousand were produced, more than 1 million 20 thousand were sold. Also, in the first five months of this year alone, about 8.8 million vehicles were sold, which is about 9 percent more than the previous year.
