Jun 16, Kathmandu - Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to take legal action against those involved in vandalism and violent activities at Tribhuvan University.

In a discussion with university officials at Singha Durbar today, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the university's chancellor, informed that he has drawn the attention of Home Minister Lekhak that whoever was involved in the vandalism should not be given immunity.

University Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khadga KC presented a written letter to Chancellor Oli to strengthen security arrangements at the university and create a peaceful environment, expressing concern that the arrested culprits were released despite filing a complaint with the police to take action against those involved in the vandalism.

Due to insecurity, the university officials are currently operating services from outside Kirtipur.

Acting Vice Chancellor KC said that they have gained hope for security assurance through Chancellor Oli's initiative.

On Falgun 21, the office of the University's Rector and Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology in Kirtipur and the Ratna Rajya Lakshmi Campus on Exhibition Road were vandalized, and on Jestha 14, the office of the Vice Chancellor in Kirtipur was vandalized.
