Jul 04, Kathmandu - Nepali Congress central member and State Affairs and Good Governance Committee Chairman Ram Hari Khatiwada has said that he is ready to step down from his post if instructed by the party.
Khatiwada has been embroiled in controversy after the Federal Civil Service Bill was passed with a ‘cooling-off period’ provision that is different from what was passed by the committee. Opposition parties have demanded his resignation.
‘I also have mistakes as the chairman,’ Khatiwada said while speaking at the party’s central working committee meeting. ‘I am ready if the party stays out.’
Objecting to the trend of defaming the work of the parliamentary committee, he urged them to proceed in a legal manner.
In the meeting, he expressed concern that the trend of weakening the party leadership has increased.
‘The continuous process of weakening the party chairman, vice chairman, general secretary and central members will damage the organization,’ Khatiwada said. ‘If Gagan Thapa becomes weak, who else will become strong?’
