Two Nepalese Students Studying in Louisiana Killed in Car Accident

Jul 15, Kathmandu - Two Nepalese students studying at Louisiana Tech University have died in a car accident in the state of Louisiana, USA. Rajan Yadav, 22, and Rojin Oli, 20, died in the accident that occurred on Monday.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred during heavy rain on Saturday around 9:00 p.m. local time. The 2010 Honda Accord, driven by Yadav was travelling eastbound on US Highway 80. When the car suddenly lost control, it skidded off the road and hit a tree, after which the vehicle caught fire.

Two other students in the car were injured and were admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Detailed information about the condition of the injured has not been released.

The permanent address of the deceased students in Nepal has not yet been revealed, although it has been confirmed that they are both Nepalese citizens. Police said that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and further details are awaited.

University expresses condolences
Louisiana Tech University has expressed its deepest condolences following the tragic incident. University President Jim Henderson issued a statement expressing his grief over the death of the students and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

President Henderson said that this is a very sad time for the university family. He wrote on Facebook, “We have embraced caring as one of our valued values. Please continue to take care of each other.”
