Jul 17, Kathmandu - Nepali national women's football team captain Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) has signed with New Zealand's top division club Wellington Phoenix.

Sabitra has signed a contract with Wellington Phoenix until the end of the 2026/27 season. Although Wellington Phoenix is a New Zealand club, it has been playing in the Australian top league. Wellington Phoenix announced the signing of Nepali captain Savitra on social media.

Savitra previously played for French club En Avant Guingamp for two years. Samba announced on Thursday morning that she had left French women's league club Guingamp after signing for Phoenix. Writing on Facebook, Samba said that her journey with Guingamp had come to an end.

“Thank you so much for the amazing journey we have had over the past two years. I will always be proud of the progress we have made along the way and it will mean a lot to my career,” she said.
