93 Died, 22 Missing, 4,000 Families Affected In Three-month Disaster

Jul 17, Kathmandu - In the three months from Baisakh to Ashadha, 2,065 disaster-related incidents have occurred. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 93 people have died and 22 have gone missing in these disasters in the first three months of this year.

According to NEA spokesperson and Deputy Secretary Suresh Sunar, 445 people have been injured in these incidents to date. He informed that 4,136 families have been affected by these incidents.

According to the details of the last three months of 2082 BS released by the NEA on Thursday, there were 137 incidents of flooding alone, resulting in 13 deaths and 22 missing people.

A few days ago, on Ashadha 10, the flood that hit Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa caused the most human casualties. The incident was caused by a glacial lake eruption in the upper area.

Similarly, six people have died in 175 landslide incidents. 26 people have died from lightning, 14 from fire, 12 from animal attacks and 11 from drowning, informed spokesperson Sunar. The NEA has also reported that there have been human losses due to other incidents such as windstorms, snake bites and heavy rain.

1,246 families have been affected by floods alone and 1,048 families have been affected by fire. Hundreds of families have been affected by incidents such as landslides, lightning, heavy rain, snake bites, windstorms, forest fires and snake bites.
