Jul 22, Kathmandu - Billionaire Elon Musk is a man who goes hand in hand with controversy and publicity. Just days after his AI chatbot, Grok, was embroiled in controversy for its anti-Semitic content and praise for Nazis, Musk has announced that he will develop the same AI to help raise children.
This new app named 'Baby Grok' is said to be the family version of Musk's AI assistant. It’s being pitched as a learning and entertainment tool for children. But given Grok’s controversial past and Musk’s own approach to content moderation, how many parents would trust this AI with their children?
Musk's latest announcement was not about creating a powerful and omniscient AI, but rather about creating a smaller and safer AI. On July 20, he wrote on social media, “We are building ‘Baby Grok.’ Which will be an app dedicated to content appropriate for children.”
Most of the reactions on X to Musk’s announcement have been negative. One user directly wrote "stop this work". Another user responded, "This is a very bad idea. Children should be playing outside and dreaming, not consuming AI garbage."
Another user commented, “This sounds like a terrible idea. It could be wrong.”
