Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana Sells Medicines Worth Rs 30 Million In A Year

Aug 03, Kathmandu - Singha Durbar Vaidyakhana has sold medicines worth Rs 30 million in a year. According to Dr. Pradeep KC, director of Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana, despite a sales target of Rs 80 million, only Rs 30 million has been sold.

Director Dr. KC said that although the idea was to produce 111 types of medicines, only 25 could be brought to the market. Currently, the Vaidyakhana is selling medicines including Chyavanprash, Shilajit, Tulsi tea, etc.

Director Dr. KC says that Baidhyakhana is self-sufficient in the production of medicines that are on the list of Ayurvedic medicines distributed free of charge by the Government of Nepal. According to the production target for the fiscal year 81/82, 10 different types of medicines are in the process of production. Similarly, 13 different types of medicines are in the process of rapid production. Dr. KC claims that Vaidhyakhana's production has not been able to gain momentum due to frequent changes in leadership. He informed that the production work has been carried out according to the medicines that are in high demand in the market.

Director Dr. KC says that the reasons for the inability to work as per the targets at the medical clinic are the temporary business plan of unstable leadership, serious errors in amending the constitution, lack of skilled and efficient human resources, and 30-year-old tools and equipment.

However, he said that Singha Durbar Medical Clinic has future plans including converting powdered ash and tablet medicines to GMP production format, constructing an improved stove for Chyavanprash Guggulu and other herbal medicines, and renewing the sales licenses of at least 80 medicines that have not been renewed since 2075 BS.
