Aug 03, Kathmandu - Nepali athlete Prashant Rai has won a bronze medal at the Asian Kurash Championship-2025.
Prashant won a bronze medal in the junior men's under 42 kg weight category at the ongoing competition in Cheongju, South Korea, according to the Nepal Kurash Association.
Prashant was defeated by players from Uzbekistan in the semi-finals. Organized by the Asian Kurash Federation, the tournament began on July 30 and will continue until August 5. Players from India, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Chinese (Taipei), and Kuwait competed in the Pacific competition.
Two athletes from Nepal are participating in the competition.
This is Nepal's second medal in the Asian Kurash Championship. Earlier, Kriti Sharma had won the bronze medal in the under-52 kg category at the Asian Kurash Championship held in Thailand in 2018.
During the competition, the Kurash Association's acting president Jeevan Rai also participated in the Asian Kurash Congress, according to the Kurash Association.
