Cooling period: Ruling party determined to protect itself, opposition prepares to write 'note of dissent'

Aug 04, Kathmandu - The special parliamentary inquiry committee formed to investigate the manipulation in the Federal Civil Service Bill has prepared a report.

The committee members have been in continuous discussions since morning to finalize the report, but no consensus has been reached. The Congress is in favor of protecting the chairman of the State Administration and Good Governance Committee, Ram Hari Khatiwada, while the UML is in favor of protecting the employees. However, the opposition parties, the Maoists, the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the RPP, are in favor of holding the chairman, Ram Hari Khatiwada, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and General Secretary of the Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, guilty. If their names are not mentioned, the opposition parties are preparing to withdraw by writing a note of dissent.

A special investigation committee was formed on Ashadha 23 to investigate the report on the Federal Civil Service Bill after it contained errors. The committee includes Congress MPs Jeevan Pariyar and Sushila Theeng, while CPN (UML) MPs Ishwori Gharti and Narayan Prasad Acharya. The members are Madhav Sapkota from the Maoist Center, Ganesh Parajuli from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Roshan Karki from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. The committee was initially given 21 days, but it was later extended by a week. The extended deadline has also expired. Till today, preparations have been made to present the committee's report in the House of Representatives, but no consensus has been reached on the report.
