Gang Leader Smuggling Small Arms Into Nepal Arrested

Aug 05, Kathmandu - A leader of a gang smuggling small arms into Nepal via India has been arrested. A team from the Special Bureau of the Police has taken an Indian citizen into custody.

The Bureau team is continuing further investigation into the Indian national who was arrested two days ago. According to Bureau sources, the arrest of the Indian national, who has been on the wanted list for a long time, is considered a major success.

“The arrested person is one of the leaders involved in smuggling illegal small arms into Nepal,” the source said. “No arms were recovered from him. However, many other pieces of evidence have been found.”

The bureau expects that the role of some Nepalis will be revealed based on the statements of the Indian nationals.

The Indian nationals have revealed that they have been bringing small arms to districts bordering India and as far as Kathmandu for those involved in illegal activities.
