350 Illegal Immigrants Arrested During Security Operation In Libya

Aug 05, Kathmandu - The Libyan Immigration Agency announced the arrest of 350 irregular and illegal migrants from various countries in a security operation carried out in the Tobruk municipality of Libya.

The agency said in a statement that the security operation was part of intensive patrols launched to pursue those violating entry requirements and raid illegal migrant hideouts within the city and its suburbs.

The agency pointed out that the legal status of the arrested persons is different. Some had entered Libyan territory without completing official procedures, while others had infiltrated through desert routes.

Some were preparing to cross the sea to the European coast illegally. Libya is a major transit point for irregular migrants trying to reach Europe.
