International Day Of Indigenous Peoples Celebrated

Aug 09, Kathmandu - The 31st International Day of the Indigenous Peoples has also been celebrated in Nepal. Indigenous communities across the country, including in Kathmandu, celebrated the 31st International Day of the Indigenous Peoples on Saturday.

Before the main ceremony held at the National Assembly, tableaus with ethnic identities were displayed from various places.

The procession, which started from Bhrikutimandap, circled around Tundikhel and reached the auditorium before proceeding to the event venue.

The United Nations General Assembly on December 23, 1994, put forward the concept of celebrating August 9 as the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.
