Aug 09, Kathmandu - Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the Ukraine war with the heads of government of five countries, including China and India, ahead of a meeting with US President Donald Trump. Putin spoke separately by phone with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbek President SShavkat Mirziyoyev, Reuters reported.
Earlier, Putin had held discussions with US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. During the discussions, Chinese President Xi said that the talks between the US and Russia on resolving the Ukraine war were positive. Russian President Putin and US President Trump are scheduled to meet in Alaska on August 15. The meeting will discuss the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire.
Meanwhile, just hours after US President Trump suggested that Ukraine might have to give up its claims to some of its territory to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, the Ukrainian president has said that his country is not ready for that.
BBC reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky responded that he would not give his country's land to the encroachers. He said that any decision made without Ukraine's consent would not be valid.
