Aug 10, Kathmandu - Nepal has failed to qualify for the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup. They were eliminated from the qualifiers after a crushing 11-0 defeat to North Korea in their final match of Group 'A'.
With the defeat of Nepal, North Korea has qualified for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup to be held in Thailand next year.
North Korea showed their best performance against Nepal in the qualifiers held in Thimphu. North Korea only attacked Nepal's goal posts throughout the match.
Earlier, North Korea had defeated Saudi Arabia 15-0 and the home team Bhutan 10-0. After scoring 11 goals against Nepal in the third match, they managed to score a total of 36 goals in three matches.
Today's defeat has also ended Nepal's chances of becoming the best second team. Because the three teams in the second place in the other groups have already won two matches each. Earlier, Nepal had drawn 1-1 with Bhutan in the first match and won 1-0 against Saudi Arabia in a hard-fought match.
The top team in the group and the best three second-place teams in the eight groups will qualify for the Asian Cup to be held in Thailand next year.
