Home Minister Directs Security Agencies To Join Hands To Control Cholera In Birgunj

Aug 24, Kathmandu - Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed security agencies to remain on alert to control the cholera outbreak in Birgunj.

At a meeting of the Central Security Committee held at the ministry on Sunday, Home Minister Lekhak directed the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force to remain in a state of readiness to be mobilized if necessary.

"The minister has instructed to be prepared to mobilize a medical team including doctors if necessary," said Home Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Ananda Kafle after the meeting.

"Accordingly, the security agencies have also started preparations." The meeting was attended by Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, along with heads and representatives of security agencies.

Spokesperson Kafle also said that the meeting reviewed the peace and security situation across the country.

“Discussions were also held on the issue of making effective security arrangements in view of the ongoing sit-ins, processions, protests and unwanted activities,” Spokesperson Kafle said. “A thorough review was conducted on the issue of peace and security across the country.”
