Mandatory Embossed Numbers On Vehicles to Take Effect From Ashwin 1

Aug 25, Kathmandu - Embossed numbers have been made mandatory on vehicles.

A meeting of the thematic committee comprising provincial ministers and secretaries held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal decided to make embossed numbers mandatory from Ashwin 1.

Embossed number plates will be mandatory from Ashwin 1st when registering, transferring and renewing vehicles through the Transport Management Office under the provincial government. The Department of Transport Management will provide technical support for the implementation of this decision.

Minister Dahal's secretariat has stated that the traffic police will be tasked with regulating the implementation of such a decision in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting has decided to request the Security Printing Center to start printing driving licenses by the end of Bhadra.

An agreement was signed between the Center and the Department on the printing of licenses on Jestha 1. According to the agreement, the Center was supposed to start printing licenses by the end of Ashadha.

Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces have also initiated the procurement process for printing licenses. The Center has been requested to grant permission for this.

The meeting also decided to maintain uniformity in revenue for the distribution of 10-year licenses, move the payment process to electronic mode, streamline the software system, and maintain uniformity in ride sharing.
